Why You Should Not Buy Biz Opp Leads
One of the biggest challenges to success in MLM is and has
always been lead generation.
This might sound familiar.
You just signed up with a new MLM company. You receive the
training materials and
when you get to the section on prospecting and lead generation
the first thing you are
told to do is MAKE A LIST OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
According to your company this is the best way to start your
business because these
prospects come from your warm market.
After you contact all your family and friends the next thing
you are encouraged to do is
buy leads. These leads are supposed to be people who have
expressed an interest in
home business. If you followed this advice you already know there are
problems with both.
Lets take a minute and look at why these 2 lead generation
methods are almost a
surefire formula for failure.
FAMILY AND FRIENDS
Ok you sit down and make a list of all your family and
friends. You pull out the telephone
script your company or upline suggested you use to call these
prospects.
You call your prospects and almost all of them express no
interest or they strongly
suggest you keep your day job.
Believe it or not very few people make it through the list.
After a few relatives suggest
you have lost your mind many people quit.
Here's why this is such a bad approach. First the people on
your list are not what I
would call target prospects.
If the people on your list have
not told you they are interested in starting a home business, you are wasting your
time and theirs. Any time you are in business you should always make sure the
prospects you contact about your opportunity or products are people who have an
interest in what you're selling.
Successful companies and advertisers all know this. Would you
start a company that
manufactured golf balls and try to sell your golf balls to
basketball players?
Of course you wouldn't. That would be a complete waste of time
and your money.
Instead you would contact people who sell or use golf balls.
In MLM you are selling 2 things, the products or service the
company sells and the
business opportunity. Your prospects should be people who want a home business or
the products your company sells.
BUYING LEADS
Ok, you survived your list of family and friends but you have
called everyone on the list
and you're out of prospects. You call your sponsor and tell
him or her you're out of
leads, what's next? Your sponsor tells you to contact ABC MLM Leads and buy as
many leads each month as you can afford. You are told that these are Hot Qualified
Prospects and they all want information on home business.
You buy some leads and call those leads. After calling 100
people you were lucky to
sponsor one. You scratch your head and wonder what's wrong.
These were supposed
to be Hot Prospects. Here's what went wrong. Most of those prospects were offered
some kind of free gift to click on a link. The link took them to a website where they
have to fill out a form to get the free gift. They also had to answer a few questions on the
form.
One of those questions was, would you like information on home business?
Never Buy Leads Again
A lot of prospects say yes only because they think that if
they say no, they won't get the
free gift. After the prospect completes the form, that person just became
a hot prospect.
The lead company will sell that lead to you and many other people.
The
lead is not exclusive to you and if they are they're probably to expensive.
Spending
MONEY on Internet Advertising
After marketing online for a while you may get cut up with the many e-book,
reports, etc.. who wants to brainwash you on the paid advertisement concept.
This is where you'll be tempted to invest in pay per clicks, buying
guaranteed traffic, hosting FFA sites, etc..
These concepts created by the Gurus and by some of the online companies are
responsible for most marketers failures, do to poor results in most of these
online paid advertising the average
home business owner will never get the return on their investment ( R.O.I.)
and will eventually get frustrated to the point where he or she will quit
all together.
